Course for orchestra musicians

Overview

reserved for graduates musicians, the Advanced course for orchestra musicians, allows you to hone specific skills in symphonic, opera and ballet repertoire, thanks to an intense activity in Italy and abroad.
The La Scala Academy Orchestra has been conducted, among others, by Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Fabio Luisi, Iván Fischer, Yuri Temirkanov, Gianandrea Noseda, Placido Domingo and Marc Albrecht, to name just a few.

- 18 years old or older, born on or after January 1, 1998;

- first level diploma in the instrument that the candidate will play at the audition from an Italian state conservatory or state authorized musical institute or an equivalent academic title issued abroad;

- first-time applicants only, those who have taken part in a previous edition of the course are not eligible for admission

Graduates can take part in competitions and auditions for inclusion in professional orchestral formations (lyrical-symphonic foundations, ICO) in the public and private sector in Italy and abroad.

Applicants must pass a two-part selection process as follows:

  • performance of all the piece specified in the audition program, downloadable here below (please note that the piece for solo instrument without piano accompaniment chosen by the applicant, required for some instruments, must be communicated when enrolling in the selection process);
  • an individual interview to assess the applicant’s aptitude and motivation.

Register to the Academy enrollment platform at iscrizioni.accademialascala.it

Your email and the password you choose will become your login credentials [username and password] that can be used again for subsequent visits. You will also be asked to read the privacy notice.

APPLICATION:

After registering, enter the information requested for the specific applicant following the step-by-step. You will asked to download, sign, and attach the Terms & Conditions “Condizioni di contratto per la partecipazione". This step is necessary to proceed with the application process.

ATTACHEMENTS:

  • 1 passport-sized photo;
  • your full cv;
  • certification of studies.

Diplomas obtained abroad must be enclosed together with their legal recognition, as required by Italian law.

In particular:

  • if the diploma is acquired in a European country, a sworn translation is required;
  • if the diploma is acquired in a non-European country, the declaration of value in situ is required.

It is also essential to attach an Italian translation of the curriculum vitae.

In addition, candidates residing outside the European Union must submit by the start date of the lessons - if they pass the selection - the documentation required by law and by the provisions of the Italian Public Security Authorities for non-EU citizens (request to obtain a residence permit for study purposes).

Scholarships are assigned starting in the second semester of the first year on the basis of effective presence during scheduled coursework and performances.

The Academy has agreements with accommodation, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and other shops, from which students can benefit - by presenting their ID card - or even candidates for selection, by presenting their full registration.

Students who complete the course may join the community of La Scala Academy Alumni, a platform providing a series of exclusive services to former Academy students: job offers, networking, post-Academy training initiatives, mentorships, events, project incubators, as well as special rates and discounts.
