The La Scala Academy is accredited by Regione Lombardia for vocational education and training services – Section B – and registered in the Regional Register with N.455 as of August 1, 2008.
The Academy is UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certified since 2003 and starting from 2024 is certified UNI/PdR 125:2022 for Gender equality.
Premise
The Teatro alla Scala Academy of Arts and Crafts Entertainment Foundation (hereinafter Accademia Teatro alla Scala), established in December 2001 and with legal recognition from the Lombardy Region obtained in 2002, inherits the prestigious training activity that was managed and organized by the Schools, Training and Development Directorate of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
Considered today among the most authoritative institutions for the training of all professional figures who operate in live entertainment, from artistic to technical and managerial ones,
The Academy stands out on a national and international level as a highly multidisciplinary training centre, dividing its teaching proposal into four departments: Music, Dance, Stage-Workshops, Management.
Thanks to an educational approach capable of guaranteeing not only solid theoretical foundations, but also important practical preparation, students are educated at the Academy according to eclectic work models typical of the theater in order to be able to realize themselves professionally also in other areas of creative production.
Significant strong points are the high professionalism of the teaching staff and the connection with a solid network of institutions and companies that Accademia develops and supports with the aim of facilitating the inclusion of its students in the working context.
Furthermore, since 2018, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala has been recognized as an Institution of Higher Artistic, Musical and Dance Education by the Ministry of University and Research MUR, authorized with Ministerial Decree no. 396 of 16 May 2018 for the release of the 1st level Academic Diploma in Classical Dance with a technical-didactic focus, a qualification equivalent to a university degree.
Starting from the 2024/25 academic year, the AFAM training offer is expanded thanks to the approval by the MUR of three new three-year courses: Costume for the Show, Multimedia for the Performing Arts and Stage Setup Techniques. In the same year, to integrate the academic proposal of the Dance department, the two-year course in Teaching of dance disciplines was also added.
Objectives and principles
The Teatro alla Scala Academy promotes the development of a quality policy based on the continuous improvement of processes connected to teaching, research and artistic production, the third mission, to guarantee an institutional model that places the student at the center of educational activity , consistently with the statutory purposes and with the values contained in its Code of Ethics and having as reference the standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European space for Higher Education (ESG).
The responsibility of the entire academic community towards the objectives and principles that constitute the quality policy of the Academy is also the basis for the correct development of strategies and for the success of action programmes. In order for the objectives and principles included in the quality policy to be translated into concrete and effective actions, the involvement of all the figures involved in the processes (students, teaching and research representatives and technical-administrative staff) is therefore of fundamental importance. , to best promote integration between stakeholders.

The Academy places the person (students, teaching and technical-administrative staff) at the center of its action, paying attention to the specific needs of the individual and the process of cultural and professional growth of individuals.
The centrality of the person is also expressed in respect of some fundamental values such as inclusion, equity and respect for diversity. In fact, the Academy strongly opposes any form of discrimination based on gender identity, ethnic belonging, political beliefs, religious beliefs, differences in ability, age and sexual orientation.
The values promoted by the Academy also include a strong culture of merit, capable of identifying and enhancing the talent and commitment of individuals.

To guarantee the effectiveness of a system capable of ensuring the maintenance of quality, the activity carried out in recent years by the Academy has focused on the identification and development of planning, action, measurement and control processes.
