Placeholder content for this accordion, which is intended to demonstrate the .accordion-flush class. This is the third item's accordion body. Nothing more exciting happening here in terms of content, but just filling up the space to make it look, at least at first glance, a bit more representative of how this would look in a real-world application.

General inquires

The Academy is headquartered in Milan and has no branch offices - due to the inescapable link with the Teatro alla Scala. The classrooms are located between the building in via Santa Marta 18, where the Music, Management and Stage Departments are located as well as some theoretical dance classes, and the Ballet School located in via Campo Lodigiano, seat of the Dance Department.

In general, propaedeutic and advanced courses last two years, professional training courses one year, and first-level AFAM courses three years. This is a general rule that has many exceptions, however, because all Academy courses are different: we advise you to check the details of the course you are interested in.

Also with regard to costs, the situation varies from course to course. On the page of each course, workshop and internship there is a ‘Download brochure’ button through which you can download a pdf containing all the specific details. Please note that the brochures are updated approximately at the beginning of November, earlier you might find the details of the previous year. You will also find inside all the costs with the division into instalments and the payment terms.

Every year, we organise open days during which you can visit our premises at Via Santa Marta 18. The Dance School, however, cannot normally be visited. When the opportunity arises, however, we always announce it in the Open Day section of this site.

Children who are in the fifth grade at the time of registration for the selections may apply for the 1st course. Applicants who have not yet reached the legal age on the date of the announcement deadline may register for subsequent courses.

Should the candidate be of legal age, or be 20 years of age or younger, he or she may apply to the selections for admission to the 7th course as an EXTERNAL STUDENT (it is recommended that you read the notice carefully by clicking on “Download brochure” on the course page).

The course for which to apply is related to the grade of Elementary, Middle or High School attended and NOT to the personal age or number of years of study at the home Dance Schools. On the course page and in the same brochure you will find all the diagrams that can help you identify the correct course to apply for.

No, you cannot: you can only apply for admission to courses one through seven.
The eighth year, which leads to graduation, is particularly demanding and delicate, and it is necessary for students to have been in the School at least since the previous year.

Application must only be carried out online via AOL platform at https://iscrizioni.accademialascala.it. Registration on the portal for access credentials must be made exclusively by the parents/legal guardian of the minor candidate.

If the candidate is also required to submit a video, it must be uploaded to the Office365 platform. ALL directions for proceeding, step by step, are provided in the course brochure.

No, an incomplete application is not valid: the application is considered complete only if, by the dates expressed in the brochure, for the first three courses, BOTH the online application form (to be completed on the AOL portal at https://iscrizioni.accademialascala.it) AND the video (to be submitted via Office365 using the links provided on the course page) are sent.

In case either part is missing, the application will be considered void and the candidate will not be called for selections.

Candidates for the 1st course are not required to have any preparation. The study of classical-academic dance at our institution requires that candidates admitted to the 1st course undertake the study starting with technical fundamentals.

For 2nd through 7th courses: the physical-technical-aptitude examination consists of a class of classical-academic dance on the program of the year preceding that of the course for which you are applying. Variations in classical or contemporary repertoire are not required.

For applicants for the first three courses, there are three selection stages (access to the next ones is gained only by passing the previous stage):

- Selection by video submission (the Academy provides the demo)
- Medical examination
- Probationary period with mandatory attendance

Candidates for courses 4 through 7, on the other hand, will face only two stages, (access to the 2nd is gained only by passing the first one): - In-person selection (dance class)
- Medical examination

All specific dates, times, video submission and further details are expressed in the course brochure, which can always be downloaded from the course page by clicking on the “Download brochure” button.

No: To be admitted to courses four through seven, since there is no probationary period, it is essential to participate in the in-person selections, which are held in Milan at the Academy's Ballet School (at Via Campo Lodigiano 2).

1st course: for females we suggest wearing a leotard (or, if not, a one-piece swimming costume); for males a short-sleeved T-shirt and a pair of tight-fitting shorts. A pair of short socks is required for both.

2nd to 7th course: we suggest that the clothing used at the home dance school be worn (leotards should not have skirts). Girls must have both half shoes and pointe shoes with them.

Students in the first three courses, corresponding to high school, attend the Ballet School in the afternoon, roughly between 2 and 6:30 pm.

Students in the fourth through eighth courses, on the other hand, have classes in Ballet School from 9 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon - and for this reason will necessarily have to attend an evening or late-afternoon high school.

Everyone will be given a detailed timetable for the following week each Friday: the commitment depends greatly on the time of year, the artistic events on the calendar, and rehearsals at La Scala.

Yes, each student must purchase the uniform of his/her course at the Academy shop, located at 18 Via Santa Marta, approximately 14 minutes' walk from the Ballet School.

The Teatro alla Scala Academy Ballet School is located in Milan, Italy, at Via Campo Lodigiano 2.

By car: it is recommended that you leave your car at the parking lot of the most convenient subway station and continue using public transportation.

By train:
- from Central Station take the underground M3 (YELLOW line) direction Comasina-S. Donato to the Missori stop - exit Corso Italia. Take Corso Italia and walk 550 m. You will find Via Campo Lodigiano on your right;
- from Cadorna Station take the underground M2 (GREEN line) towards Assago-P.za Abbiategrasso. At the first stop, S. Ambrogio, change to the M4 (BLUE line), direction Linate, and get off at Santa Sofia stop.

No, any institution can be chosen for schooling, but as far as high school is concerned, the choice must fall on an evening or late-afternoon institution, since students between the ages of 14 and 18 have classes in Dance School during daytime hours.

During the selections: the Academy has signed agreements with facilities near the Ballet School for short periods of time. Please consult the Discounts page.

The Ballet School does not have an in-house boarding school and each candidate/student must make their own logistical arrangements.
