To apply, a parent or the legal guardian of the candidate must register or login at Academy's Admission OnLine Platform (https://iscrizioni.accademialascala.it).

Once you have registered or logged in, the system will ask you to enter the candidate's personal data and will propose the Contract Conditions for participation, a document which must be signed and re-attached and which contains important contractual details, such as the right of withdrawal.

Once this step is completed, you will be asked to insert a passport sized photo of the candidate. Then, you will be asked to pay the admissions participation fee (€ 100), by credit card or by online bank transfer, directly from the registration screen (the banks of the MyBank circuit are accepted: check first that yours is there too before proceeding).

At the end of these steps, a PDF summary of all the data entered will be generated, which must be signed by BOTH the parents (or the legal guardian) and reattached. At this point, registration goes directly to the Student's Office and it's complete for candidates to 4, 5, 6 and 7 course.

Applicants for the first three courses are instead also asked for a video, which is mandatory and part of the application, but must be uploaded to a different platform - details are below under “Selections.” For the first three courses, the application is complete only if it consists of online application form and video. Only ONE of the two parts will not be considered a valid application.

The selection test has several stages and differs in structure according to age group.

In order to participate in the selections, it is not necessary to purchase specific clothing: candidates in the first course will find directions within the demo video, all other candidates can wear what is in use in their own dance schools.

FIRST STEP - different depending on the course

  • Applicants for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd courses are required to submit a video containing a practice testthat traces the demo provided by the Academy.

    You can download here:
    DEMO 1 COURSE | DEMO 2 COURSE | DEMO 3 COURSE

Your videos will need to be uploaded to the Academy's Office365 account, which is not yet available. The link will be posted in January on this page.
To apply for the 1st course, it is not necessary to have studied dance because the curriculum starts with technical fundamentals.
  • Applicants for courses 4 through 7, on the other hand, will be required to take an in-person physical-technical-aptitude exam, which involves the partial or total performance, at the discretion of the Examining Board, of a classical-academic dance lesson during which candidates must demonstrate that they have the technical level expected for the course prior to the one for which they are applying (example: a candidate in the 4th course must have good command of the technique of the 3rd course in order to be ready to start with the new program).

SECOND STEP - same for all candidates who pass the first stage.

All candidates deemed eligible at the end of the first stage will undergo an orthopedic and cardiological medical examination. Details are described in the brochure.

THIRD STEP - provided only for candidates in courses 1, 2 and 3.

  • Candidates in courses 1 through 3who also pass the medical examination will enter the probationary period, which has an attendance fee of € 210. Attendance, which is mandatory, will be mainly in the afternoon from Monday to Friday and in the morning on Saturdays.
  • On the other hand, candidates for courses 4 through 7 who pass the medical examination will be directly admitted to attendance without a probationary period.

The Examining Committee may decide to admit candidates to Course Level 7 who have not received a fully positive physical aptitude assessment and/or are 18 or 19 years old on August 31, 2024, if they demonstrate sufficient requisites for admission to the Ballet School. Such candidates are admitted as “external students”.

After successfully completing Level 8, external students will receive a Certificate of Attendance instead of a Diploma in Classical and Modern/ Contemporary Ballet.

The Academy is committed each year to helping deserving young people with financial support aimed at course attendance. The request for the forms of support can be made only after passing the selections and must necessarily be attached to the matriculation for the year 2025-26, together with one's ISEE certification valid as of 31/07/2025.

Incomplete applications or applications sent after the specified deadlines will not be considered. The request for facilitation-even with a very low or zero ISEE indicator-does not guarantee its allocation: the Academy's Management reserves the right to evaluate each individual case.

Applicants not resident in Italy, in lieu of the ISEE model valid as of 07/31/2025, must submit an official statement of family income issued by the competent authority of their country, translated into Italian and expressed in euros.

SCHOLARSHIPS. The scholarship is awarded at the end of the school year, on the basis of merit, at the discretion of the Management; therefore, the balance of tuition is due in full. The amount of the scholarship is intended to be gross, as the same is subject to Irpef taxation.

EXEMPTIONS. All students admitted to the Ballet School with an ISEE indicator not exceeding 13,000.00 euros may apply for exemption from payment of annual tuition.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. The Teatro alla Scala Academy has signed agreements with major Italian lending institutions to enable all students residing in the country to access dedicated financing. Relevant information can be requested from the Secretariat of the School of Ballet at e-mail auditions.ballo@ accademialascala.it.

Students admitted to the Ballet School must meet all compulsory schooling requirements.
Since admission to the Ballet School is not guaranteed, parents of prospective students should pre-enroll their child at their local school.

By virtue of the special agreement between the Academy and the Pietro Longone boarding school in Milan, students at the Ballet School may attend:
- the Pietro Longone middle school;
- the Pietro Longone/Accademia Teatro alla Scala experimental high school with specialization in dance.

Students admitted to the Ballet School and planning to attend the Pietro Longone middle or high school must notify the Pietro Longone school directly to obtain instructions for enrollment and payment of fees and tuition.
