In the midst of Milan Design Week and in partnership with 5VIE, one of the most visited districts of the Fuori Salone, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala presents The Crossroads of Creativity, which on April 9 will take the public to discover the many “roads” that can be taken in the field of performing arts.
The School that trains future performing arts talents dialogues with the world of design and interprets the theme of 5VIE, Invisible Harmonies, fitting right into Chendù fest's installation Dove vuoi andare? Fainplast, hosted in the first courtyard of the SIAM building, where the Academy is based. The young artists will perform musical themes inspired by the Alice in Wonderland dreamscape that forms the concept of the installation, the title of which refers to the question posed to little Alice, uncertain which way to go. “Which way should I take?” asks Alice to the Cheshire Cat, who responds by asking her another question, ”Where do you want to go?”
To the same question posed by those who wish to launch a successful career in the world of live performance, the Academy responds by offering the opportunity to identify clear goals that will allow them to find their way. The installation where Fainplast's 2025 proposals will be displayed will be in the form of a labyrinth, in which, however, it will be easy to discern a way and will be enlivened by the presence of the Academy's musicians.
But the day's program will be particularly rich.
While in the first courtyard there will be interaction of the students with the installation, in the second courtyard there will be a variety of activities that will allow people to understand how many professional paths are viable in the live performance industry thanks to guided tours of the classrooms, open lectures, photo sets, demonstrations and performances that will enliven the space, while in the school's classrooms it will be possible to attend course presentations, meeting teachers, students and now-established alumni.
If the demonstration of the Special Make-up Course will allow to see live how to create the special makeup effects necessary for the characterization of a character (the iconic Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream) and the exhibition of wigs will allow to learn about the high-precision and patient work that requires their creation, a series of theatrical costumes will reveal the smallest details of sartorial tailoring, while some intense photo shoots will bring to life unique moments captured onstage and behind the scenes by the Course in Multimedia for the Performing Arts, which will also be present with a real set that all those who take part in this packed Open Day will be able to participate in. There will also be the String Quartet, which will perform open air in the afternoon, as well as a guided tour of Teatro alla Scala's “Ansaldo” Laboratories intended for those interested to the Set designers course (max. 20 participants).
The day will be an opportunity, therefore, to learn about the Academy's entire educational offerings, a real journey of discovery of the many professions of the performing arts. The Academy through four departments - Music, Dance, Stage and Management - offers, in fact, a very wide catalog.
The teaching staff ensures the most adequate preparation thanks to the artists and professionals of Teatro alla Scala, who share the goal of developing the potential of those who are talented and determined to enter the performing arts field professionally. Thanks to significant theoretical activity and intensive practical work, on stage and behind the scenes, in Italy and abroad, Academy students nimbly enter the world of work once they have completed their studies.
