Thursday, May 27, 2021 saw the presentation of Uno di Un Milione (One of a Million), a project based on an idea of the OP Collective with the participation of the Orchestra and Children's Voices Choir of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, carried out in collaboration with Azienda per il Turismo Val di Sole, Stelvio National Park, Municipality of Pejo, Funivie Pejo 3000, Popack and thanks to BMW Italia as Partner.
The initiative also has the patronage of the Autonomous Province of Trento and TSM-Trentino School of Management. Technical sponsors Napapijri and K-Array.
Speakers included Luisa Vinci, General Director Accademia Teatro alla Scala, Luciano Rizzi and Fabio Sacco, President and Director APT Val di Sole, Luca Lagash, OP Collective Artist, Massimiliano Di Silvestre. President and CEO BMW Italy.
The project stems from the desire of the OP Collective artists to bring nature, art, music and technology together in an original work, where the relationship is made possible only by collective participation and sharing.
“The Accademia Teatro alla Scala,” as Director General Luisa Vinci argued, ”could only enthusiastically welcome this project, which is able to look to the future through the involvement of young people, combining values such as the protection and enhancement of the environment, and the promotion of art and culture as tools of knowledge and innovation.
It all originated from the many water sources with which Val di Sole, Pejo and Stelvio National Park are dotted. Young people from music schools and community centers in Val di Sole were invited to participate in composition workshops to bring a symphonic piece to life, drawing inspiration from their experience of being in contact with nature along the area's paths and various water sources. The piece, in composition and final arrangement by Silvio Morais D'Amico, was recorded in Milan by the Orchestra and Chorus of White Voices of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, conducted by Pietro Mianiti. And this is where technology comes into play: thanks to Popack, flasks were made, strictly plastic-free, from lightweight thermal steel, each of which is equipped with a QR-Code that allows a note from the piece to be revealed and, thanks to a geolocation system, to locate the different water sources in the area to be supplied, as well as to discover itineraries and soundscapes created ad hoc by the artists of the OP Collective.
The water bottles are transformed into a living object: purchasable as of now on the website unodiunmilione.com and available starting June 5, World Environment Day, at various outlets in the Val di Sole, they become a multimedia device, capable of making people travel spiritually through the notes and physically along the routes indicated on the map.
The piece in its entirety can be heard in Pejo 3000, at an altitude of 3,000 meters, inside a monumental sculpture created by Morgana Orsetta Ghini of the OP Collective, composed of two corten iron and steel structures and soundproofed thanks to K-Array sound diffusion systems. A work conceived as an auditorium, in which the elements of nature converse with the visitor who can move inside and outside living a unique experience.
The installation will be inaugurated on Saturday, July 3, by the singers of the Academy's White Voices Choir who, wearing the iconic Napapijri windbreakers, will accompany the gradual unfolding of the melody with their singing.
In the following week, the first itineraries of One of a Million and Soundscapes in Val di Sole will open to the public.
