class. This is the third item's accordion body. Nothing more exciting happening here in terms of content, but just filling up the space to make it look, at least at first glance, a bit more representative of how this would look in a real-world application. On Oct. 27, 2023, at the Milan space of Fabbrica del Vapore (Via Procaccini, 4), the multimedia installation The City as a Stage, curated by the students of the Photography, Video and New Media Course and the Sound Technology Course, will be inaugurated.
The event, realized with the contribution of Fondazione Cariplo and the technical sponsorship of DHS Event Solution and the brainchild of Pino Ninfa - teacher of the Photo, Video and New Media Course - concludes the training year for the young students and constitutes a new opportunity for cooperation among the students of the Scala school.
Starting from the work on the photographs, the artistic coordinator of the course, Luca Scarzella, devised a multimedia environment in which printed images - depicting musicians, dancers and actors immortalized in different city corners - coexist with video, sound spatialization and a lighting design.
The audience is thus immersed in a space in which all elements are coordinated and synchronized. The idea behind the project, in fact, is to recreate, with video and sound, everything that makes up the shot itself but escapes the camera's grasp, be it the surroundings or the inspiration in the photographer's head. It is thus intended to reveal the genesis of the photographic shot and place it in relation to its dynamic component.
The installation consists of fifteen short chapters in succession, one for each image: it is light that transforms the environment, isolating each individual photograph on display, which, once highlighted, is amplified with other images, sounds and videos. In another part of the room, images, reflections, notes are projected: all the material that generally belongs to the design process of which the chosen and printed photograph is the final result.
The exhibition will be open to the public until Nov. 12, 2023; admission is free.
The exhibition is part of the project ADA - ACCADEMIA DIGIT-ART for Culture & School, supported by
